Crocuses receive an abundance of attention. They are among the very first blooms – particularly early this year – and they are stunningly cute. I’m not sure why they are so eager, but I am happy for their enthusiasm. Maybe that is why we enjoy them so much. They announce themselves awake and ready for whatever the world will throw at them. They attack the darkness of the winter. They shrug off the chill of night. They remind us that very soon the gardens will be bursting with color. We need to plant more of these. Their attention is well deserved.
